Ashland, WI and Apostle Islands in Lake Superior

This week we camped in Ashland, WI.  First is the view from camp and then some of the wildlife we saw in camp.

Another one of Jeff's big fish stories below!

I thought this church was so pretty. I just couldn't help but think of the movie by a similar name.

One of the artists in town has painted murals on at least a dozen buildings.  This one is my favorite.

They have several artisan wells here in town.  The water runs continuously  without the aid of pumps of any kind.  The water is also supposed to be mineral free and very healthy.  While we were there people were lined up to get the water.  Had a video, but it just didn't load.

We went on a cruise to the Apostle Islands in Lake Superior.  The story that we heard from a woman in the know in Bayfield (that's the town we cruised from), told us that originally when the islands were named, there was thought to be 12 islands.  Thus, the name.  It turns out that there are actually 22 islands - oops!  So, the island that I took pictures of is called Devil's Island.  It is one of the furthest islands out and the wind and water have made some interesting designs in the shoreline.  I even snuck in a picture of us.

So, today is goodbye Ashland and hello to Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park.
